August 2023 Activities

I love August because it means Virgo season (my season/the best season) is upon us. Fall is just around the corner, so use these last August weekends wisely to soak up the summer sunshine and all the fun that comes with it. Here’s a list if you need any help.

Friday - Sunday the 4-6th: Crested Butte Arts Festival. Free to attend and plenty of food and art for purchase. More info here.

Saturday the 5th & 12th: Yoga on the Rocks. Tickets here.

Saturday the 5th: Olathe Sweet Corn Festival. Spend a fun summer Saturday devouring the town’s famous sweet corn and listing to groovy live music. More info here: olathesweetcornfest.com

Saturday - Sunday the 5-6th: Colorado Scottish Festival in Sedalia. An annual two-day family-friendly event that showcases Scottish traditions, culture, and history through athletic competitions, re-enactments, blacksmithing, folk music, dancing, and traditional food. Sunday the 6th: A Taste of Colorado at Civic Center Park

Friday - Sunday the 11-13th: Sculpture In The Park in Loveland. Invited artists present their sculptures, now in its 39th year. Website: sculptureinthepark.org

Saturday the 12th: Leadville Trail 100 Mountain Bike Race: the second oldest of the major 100-mile bike races in North America.

Wednesday - Sunday the 16-20th: Telluride Mushroom Festival: Rejoice in all aspects of this fungus for the 42nd year. Events include lectures, forays, performances, workshops, parades, movies, cooking, and food.

Friday - Saturday the 18-19th: Palisade Peach Festival: two days of enjoying Palisade peaches. Last year’s festival topped more than 15,000 people from around the world.

If you can’t make it all the way to Palisade, consider the Lafayette Peach Festival on Sunday the 19th featuring Palisade peaches and all kinds of other goodness.

Monday the 21st: Film on the Rocks: Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Tickets here.

Thursday - Saturday the 24-26th: Durango Blues Train is an epic, one-of-a-kind blues train, roundtrip from Durango to Silverton. Website: durangobluestrain.com

Friday - Sunday the 25-27th: Handmade In Colorado Expo: Estes Park: 16th annual art event showcasing various creations from Colorado artists. More info here.

Friday - Monday, August 25 – September 4: Colorado State Fair & Rodeo, Pueblo: parades, live music, rodeos, carnival, livestock, horse show, and vendors selling everything from Indian Tacos to handcrafted jewelry. Website: coloradostatefair.com
