It’s officially the time of year when we write 2023 on everything but it is, in fact, 2024. I’ve got your list of events all across the state right here. I promise they are in 2024! Add them to your new planner pages ASAP.

National Western Stock Show (a staple of my childhood) January 6-21, 2024 at the National Western Complex
Since 1906, the stock shows include rodeos, horse shows, livestock, western art, and more special events spread over more than 16 days. Find the schedule of events right here and you can buy tickets here.

First People’s Festival, January 12-14
Estes Park’s First People's Festival celebrates Indigenous culture, art, music, language and oral traditions. Vendors from across the country will offer their wares while workshops, cultural demonstrations, and live performances entertain. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn about the Indigenous connection to the Estes Valley and Rocky Mountain National Park. Learn more.

Cowboy Downhill at Steamboat Ski Resort on Monday, January 15
Professional cowboys from across the U.S., as well as Australia, Canada, Europe, and Mexico, compete in a race down Headwall near the base of Steamboat Resort. Part ski race, part rodeo, part train wreck. Free, info here.

Ouray Ice Festival, Thur-Sun, January 18-21
The biggest ice climbing festival in North America, featuring the world’s best climbers and 100 educational climbing clinics. Tickets and info here.

Breckenridge International Snow Sculpture Championships, Mon-Wed, January 22 – January 31
Witness 20-ton blocks of ice get hand-carved by experts from all over the world. Teams from around the world sculpt around the clock for five days to build the spectacles of art, followed by five days of viewing the masterpieces. Sculpting Week: January 22-26; Viewing Week: January 26-31

Aspen Winter X Games, Fri-Sun, January 26-28
World’s best athletes in skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling compete another year at Buttermilk. Event is free to attend but you’ll need to get lodging secured.

UllrGrass Music and Beer Festival in Golden, Fri-Sun, January 26-28
Festival-goers dress in Viking regalia and celebrate community, live music, performing arts, and craft beer. Tickets are available on their website.

Snowdown in Durango; Fri-Sun, January 26 – February 4
Now in its 45th year, this winter celebration features a costume party, follies, parade, and an annually changing theme. Peace, love, and snowdown! More info here.

Colorado Motorcycle Expo, Sat-Sun, January 27-28, National Western Complex, Denver
The largest swap meet in America, the 45th annual Colorado Motorcycle Expo is great for those looking to buy new bike components, check out numerous competitions, and be surrounded by other motorcycle enthusiasts.
