September 2023 Events

What’s going on this month? You’ll have to go to the mountains to find out. Not all the events are in the mountains, of course, but September is perfect mountain weather for Oktoberfests, Wine Fests, Art Fests, and more! And… the Broncos are back!

Colorado State Fair & Rodeo in Pueblo through September 4. This one isn’t in the mountains but it IS a Colorado classic. It’s in the name!

Four Corners Folk Festival in Pagosa Springs. September 1-3. Definitely stop by the hot springs if you go!!

Telluride Film Festival: It’s the 50th anniversary of one of the top film festivals in the US. September 1-4

Keystone Oktoberfest in River Run Village. Saturday, September 2

Denver Food & Wine Festival: September 6-9

Southern Ute Tribal Fair & Powwow: September 8-10 at the Sky Ute Fairgrounds in Ignacio, CO. This year is the 101st Annual Powwow!

Longs Peak Scottish-Irish Highland Festival in Estes Park. September 8-10. As a Scott, I have to tell you about this, of course!

Denver Mineral, Fossil, Gem, and Jewelry Show: September 8-17. This is one of my favorites! There are so many beautiful stores and dealers to shop.

San Luis Valley Potato Festival in Monte Vista. Who doesn’t love a potato?! September 9.

Steamboat OktoberWest Saturday, September 9

Colorado Artfest at Castle Rock Sat-Sun, September 9-10

Colorfest Balloon Rally in Pagosa Springs September 15-17. This is the 36th anniversary of high-flying fun. The Passport to Pagosa Food & Wine Fest kicks off the festivities on Friday night with international wine and food pairings, followed by a 5k run and two mass ascensions.

Telluride Blues & Brews Festival is another Colorado classic! September 15-17

Colorado Mountain Winefest in Palisade. One of my most favorite birthday celebrations was in Palisade, drinking wine and eating peaches and pickles from the farms! Saturday, September 16.

Pawtoberfest in Colorado Springs on Saturday, September 16. An annual festival with craft beer, cocktails, food vendors, and a 2-mile dog walk that benefits the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.

Durango Autumn Arts Festival sounds dreamy!! September 16-17

Breckenridge Film Festival if you can’t make it all the way to Telluride. September 21-24

Chile & Frijoles Festival in Pueblo. So delicious. September 22-24
